This past week we spent some time exploring apples, as part of our fall exploration. In the past few weeks many children have visited apple orchards with their families, talking with us about their time apple picking and enjoying this fall past time! It was also curriculum night on Thursday and I enjoyed showing families a glimpse into our room and what we have been focusing on in these first 5 weeks of school! This blog is short and sweet this week but I wanted to highlight some of the things we've done as well as a little glimpse into curriculum night for families who were unable to attend.

a glimpse of some of the process art pieces we have been working on. Process Art for Early Childhood is focused more on the act of making, experimenting, and discovering, rather than the art product itself. Children use exploration to discover new materials, techniques, and tools in an open-ended way that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative learning (Lauren Hodson, 2017.) For this piece, children were given the option of different tools and colors. Some children chose to add all the colors of the rainbow during the weeks while others chose to skip colors at their desire. Each canvas was presented over 7 different times to each child, allowing children to add details at their own liking.

This week we explored apples with some apple stamping, apple dotting, apple tasting (a class favorite) and Friday we made applesauce, which we will enjoy for snack on Monday!
We also had our first Buddy time! We took an all school buddy hike, and of course made time to play in the leaves!
