It’s been a lovely short (and rainy) week back! The classroom is filled with play and you can just tell the children missed each other during our break!

Coming back from a long break, there’s always time to be intensional with the routines we have in place and spending time getting back into the groove with classroom expectations. This group of children were ready to go from Tuesday morning!

We began signing in each morning. Children are not required to know how to write their name. Each child is asked what letter they know from their own name and to write what they know!

We’ve just started an investigation of shapes. Our library shelf is replenished with books about shapes and in our short week we’ve had a few literature related art projects.

To name a few; we read Snippets by Diane Alber, a book about shapes, art and kindness. Children were prompted to create their own snippet art as well!

We also read Circle by Mac Barnett and John Klassen. We used balloons, paint and later eyes to make our own circles (and other shapes) like the characters in the book!

We made new play dough which was tokened "a perfect winter color" by some students.

And overall we made time for some really good play!
